Eat These 6 Foods for Healthier Skin

Welcome back!

I'm excited to kick off this week (well, mid-week) with this post! I had a great time at my makeup class in Los Angeles and I can't wait to share all about it! This post was inspired by a question from one of my followers, who was curious about diet change and what food would help improve the quality of skin the most. So I did some research and I came up with some of the top foods that help keep you skin looking and feeling its very best.

Disclaimer - this post is solely meant to be informative. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind about what they eat or tell them to eat differently. I am not trying to start an argument about dietary habits or anything like that. This research was fun and interesting and I just want to help my followers keep their skin healthy!

Avocado - As a lot of you probably know already, avocados are one of the best healthy fats you can eat. These fats serve many purposes, including helping the skin stay moisturized and supple, in addition to helping protect against sun damage. Eating more avocados can help give your skin a healthy glow in addition to a fresh look and feel.

Sunflower Seeds - sunflower seeds are another source of healthy fats that can aid in keeping your skin moisturized and glowy. They also contain protein which is great for your diet. Sunflower seeds also help skin stay thick and protective against outer stress and intrusions. Thin skin is due to a lack of Omega-6 which is found in sunflower seeds. So eat your seeds!

Dark Chocolate - this is probably one we all want to hear - dark chocolate is good for your skin! You want to find a dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa (the less sugar, the better). Cocoa is high in antioxidants and can help protect your skin from sun damage as well as the effects of aging if consumed regularly and in small amounts.

Blueberries - Most dark berries are beneficial to your skin because they are full of zinc, vitamins A and E, and antioxidants. All of these things work together to help reduce inflammation and acne in the skin. They can also brighten the skin and help make it glow. Blueberries also contain Vitamin C, which helps with the production of collagen that keeps the skin youthful and supple.

Green Tea - Green tea is filled with antioxidants that help protect your skin from sun damage and other environmental stress. It can also help improve the skin's elasticity and brings moisture back into the skin. My favorite green tea is the Harney & Sons Green Tea with Coconut. It is sooooo good!

Walnuts - walnuts are good for your skin because they contain similar fats to avocado that are good for the body. Your body cannot produce these fats on its own, so eating nuts will help your skin function properly and promote healthier skin. These fats also help your skin fight bacteria that causes acne, helping the skin function as a barrier to keep out bad bacteria.

Do you consume any of these foods on a regular basis? I know some of these I need to incorporate into my diet more regularly! The benefits are amazing!

Let me know what foods you like to eat to help keep your skin healthy, and stay tuned for my next post!
